Narrow silicon carbide stones for hard stainless and carbon steels, designed for efficient sharpening up to 63 HRC.
Abrasive
CS-HD stones are made of silicon carbide and are designed for sharpening hard steels up to 63 HRC.
Steel range
Best suited for hard stainless steel and carbon steel. Use on soft steels is not recommended because it may increase wear and loading.
Format
The narrow format is useful for compact guided sharpening setups and more detailed sharpening work.
Grit range
Recommended set
The recommended CS-HD narrow set includes FEPA 150, 220, 400, 600, and 1200 stones.
This progression covers the main sharpening stages, from coarse edge work to final refinement.
Performance
CS-HD is one of the most popular Boride series for guided sharpening and performs especially well on hard steels.
Coarse CS-HD stones, such as 120 and 150 grit, are often used as universal coarse stones because of their strong cutting action.
Lubricants
• Water
• Soapy water
• Boride Bori-Lube
How to use
When using water, soak the stone for 1–2 minutes.
When using oil, apply 1–2 drops and spread evenly over the surface. If the stone absorbs the oil, use a larger amount.
Natural production marks
Boride stones may have saw strokes on the working surface, lacquer residues, or small chips at the corners and along the edges no larger than 1 mm.
These marks are usually removed during stone preparation. Additional lapping can be performed with loose silicon carbide powder or a diamond lapping plate.
