Testing modes
EDGE LAB operates in two modes: MAX (sharpness) and SLC (slicing), allowing both push-cut and slicing analysis. Slice test media supports both push and slicing tests, generating dozens of data points per measurement.
Slice test media is a 0.010" (0.25 mm) polymer, available in SLCTM20 and SLCTM30 configurations. It enables direct comparison with other sharpeners and established edge standards. Each test — push or slice — generates dozens of logged data points, compared to a single data point in standard sharpness testing.
Analysis
EDGE LAB allows direct comparison of edge types and geometry, clearly showing how blade design affects cutting performance. It provides objective answers to long-standing sharpening questions.
Flexibility
In addition to standard media, you can test paper, rubber, and other flexible materials up to 2 mm thick. Slicing tests may be conducted manually with the included SLCF20 test fixture or with the aid of one of our Slice accessories.
Software
The included Windows interface allows parameter setup, average force calculation, and CSV export for further analysis.
Data can be used in Excel for graphing and advanced evaluation.
Included
The package includes a Standard User Software Interface with CSV file support, an RS232/USB cable interface, and SLF20 & ATF10G media fixtures for up to 125 sharpness tests. It also comes with 50 SLT30 slice test media for approximately 100 slicing tests, a KFL10R knife fulcrum, and a rechargeable battery with AC/DC wall charger and power supply.
