Silicon carbide sharpening stones for hard stainless and carbon steels up to 65 HRC on Hapstone knife sharpeners.
Abrasive
The stones are made of silicon carbide and designed for sharpening the hardest steels up to 65 HRC.
Steel range
Recommended for hard stainless steel and carbon steel, including high-alloy and powder steels.
Preparation
Hapstone Silicon Carbide Stones are preliminarily lapped and do not require lapping after purchase.
Grits
Set
The set includes 120, 240, 600, 1000, and 2500 grit stones. Coarse 120 and 240 grit silicon carbide stones can also be used as universal stones due to their harder bonding.
Silicon carbide stones are recommended for steels such as ZDP-189, ZDP-247, S30V, S35VN, S90V, S110V, 154CM, D2, YXR7, Cowry, S290, S390, K294, K390, M390, Elmax, 154CPM, ATS-34, 440C, AUS-8, AUS-10, A2, and BG-42. Using silicon carbide stones to sharpen soft steels is not recommended, as it can cause increased stone wear.
Use
Silicon Carbide Stones are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant.
Soak the stone for 1–2 minutes and splash water on the surface during sharpening to prevent drying.
FAQ
Both series are extremely good, but the exact abrasive and bonding parameters of Boride CS-HD are Boride’s intellectual property.
Hapstone uses harder bonding for 120 and 240 grit, and bonding of equal hardness for 400, 600, and 1000 grit. CS-HD offers 9 grits, while Hapstone offers 5 grits only.
