Fast yet ultra-fine French natural slate finishing stone for razors, mounted on an aluminum blank.
Natural stone
La Lune is a sedimentary slate brought back to market by 1Stone in France after geological research of the original ore and heritage.
Finish range
The stone is a fast but very fine finishing hone, especially suited for razors and fine edge finishing.
Ready to use
Each hone is finely lapped and ready for use on Hapstone-style guided sharpening systems.
Stone character
La Lune stone is a sedimentary slate that has undergone a mineral transformation called Redox.
Some hones may show green mineral spots in dot or oval shapes. These are natural material pockets caused by reducing conditions and do not represent danger or toxicity for steel.
Use
Historically, La Lune was recommended for use with oil, including glycerin or mineral oil, but it also works well with water.
With razors, it works as a fast but very fine finishing stone. With knives, higher pressure can increase abrasion.
Composition
• Chlorite
• Quartz
• Sericite
• Microlites of rutile
• Tourmaline
