Dense French slate finishing stones for razors, knives, gouges, wood chisels, and other fine edge tools.
Finish range
Green Shadow and Black Shadow stones are designed for final finishing and refreshing tired edges after synthetic or natural progression stones.
Natural slate
Both stones come from private family land in France composed of slate with different grain structures.
Feedback
Green Shadow offers more tactile feedback, while Black Shadow is harder and gives the ultimate finish with a velvety feel.
Green Shadow
Dense and hard slate for finishing razors, knives, gouges, wood chisels, and other tools.
Black Shadow
Very dense and hard finishing stone for the finest edge refinement and high-level final honing.
Directions for use
Both hones can be used with slurry produced with a piece of the same stone. The slurry works best with a small amount of water on the stone.
Too much water may cause slipping and a suction effect because of the hard stone surface. A slurry-honed edge will have a hazy finish, while slurry gives faster and more powerful sharpening.
A water-based finish gives a shinier polish. Glycerin or oil can provide a more homogeneous finish. Switching from oil to water is possible if the stone is cleaned well.
