      Aluminum oxide sharpening stones for Hapstone knife sharpeners, designed for soft and medium steels up to 59 HRC.

      The stones are made of aluminum oxide and are used for sharpening knives using Hapstone knife sharpeners.

      Steel range

      Up to 59 HRC

      The stones are designed for soft or medium steels up to 59 HRC. Use on hard steels is not recommended because of low performance.

      Pre-lapped stones

      Hapstone Aluminum Oxide Stones are preliminarily lapped and do not require lapping after purchase.

      The set includes five aluminum oxide stones: 120, 240, 600, 1000, and 2500 grit JIS.

      All stones are 6 mm thick and mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks with laser engraving.

      Recommended steels

      For soft stainless steels

      It is advisable to use aluminum oxide stones for sharpening knives made of soft stainless steel: 1095, 1080, 1070, 1050, 420, 440A, 440B, 3Cr13, 8Cr13MoV, 8Cr14MoV, 9Cr14MoV, AUS-4, and AUS-6.

      Lubricant

      Use with water

      Hapstone Aluminum Oxide Stones are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant. Soak the stone for 1–2 minutes and splash water on the stone surface to prevent drying.

      The recommended coolant is oil or water.

      Advantages of aluminum blanks

      Aluminum blanks help reduce the risk of breaking the stone if accidentally dropped, extend the stone life after multiple flattening and lapping, provide easy identification due to laser engraving, and allow reliable clamping for stones of imperfect shape.
