      French slate hone

      Finish range

      12000–15000 grit

The stone is a fast but very fine finishing hone, especially suited for razors and fine edge finishing.

      Ready to use

      Finely lapped

Each hone is finely lapped and ready for use on Hapstone-style guided sharpening systems.

      Stone character

      Redox-transformed slate

La Lune stone is a sedimentary slate that has undergone a mineral transformation called Redox.

Some hones may show green mineral spots in dot or oval shapes. These are natural material pockets caused by reducing conditions and do not represent danger or toxicity for steel.

      Use

      Oil, glycerin, or water

Historically, La Lune was recommended for use with oil, including glycerin or mineral oil, but it also works well with water.

With razors, it works as a fast but very fine finishing stone. With knives, higher pressure can increase abrasion.
