Format
Ursa Series is a narrow dual-sided diamond stone designed for Hapstone guided sharpeners and compact freehand use.
Construction
Each stone has two 1 mm-thick diamond-bearing layers on an aluminum plate with evenly distributed diamond grains.
Performance
Bonded diamonds provide better sharpening feedback and give the stone a much longer lifespan compared to coated diamonds.
Combinations
Grit system
All Venev diamonds use FEPA-F grit classification. Ursa Series is available in five grit combinations.
F80 to F240 utilize the legacy binder, while F400 to F1200 utilize the OCB binder.
The OCB version uses a yellow binder with no abrasive particles in the composition. OCB is available in fine grits only and offers better scratch-free sharpening results.
Use and maintenance
Venev Diamonds are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant for the best sharpening feedback. The diamond layer does not absorb water, so it is enough to splash water on the stone surface.
Dry use is acceptable, although it results in faster wearing and speeds up stone loading.
Additional flattening and lapping can be performed to improve sharpening quality. Loose silicon carbide powder is recommended. Diamond lapping plates are not recommended.
