Binder
The magnesia binder gives Shapton Pro stones excellent sharpening quality, strong performance, and high wear resistance.
Steel range
Suitable for knives made from many steels, including high carbon, vanadium, and chromium steels.
Use
Shapton Pro stones should be used with water as a lubricant. Do not soak them for more than a few seconds.
Just splash the surface or use a water spray. Never store the stones in water and never dry them near heat.
Grit range
Available stones
White coarse stone — 120 grit
Blue-black coarse stone — 320 grit
Orange sharpening stone — 1000 grit
Green sharpening stone — 2000 grit
Dark red honing stone — 5000 grit
Cream honing stone — 12000 grit
Progression
The Shapton Pro range covers coarse grinding, regular sharpening, and fine honing stages.
Available grits include 120, 320, 1000, 2000, 5000, and 12000 grit stones.
Preparation
Shapton Pro stones are preliminarily lapped and do not require lapping after purchase.
Each stone is mounted on a high-quality aluminum blank for use with Hapstone sharpening systems.
