Longer working life on aluminum blanks

Boride sharpening stones are used for sharpening knives on Hapstone sharpeners. Boride offers a wide range of stones with different performance values and wear rates.

All Boride stones are 6 mm thick and mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks. This thickness offers a longer life cycle than standard 3 mm Edge Pro stones.

    Lubricants

Use with water or oil-based lubricants

Boride stones can be used with water, soapy water, Boride Bori-Lube, or a water solution of dipropylene glycol.

WD-40, refined olive oil, and oleic acid are options for experienced users only.

    Preparation

    Soak or apply oil lightly

When using water, soak the stone for 1–2 minutes. When using oil, apply 1–2 drops to the surface and spread evenly.

If the stone absorbs the honing oil, use a larger amount of oil.

    Maintenance

    Lapping and minor surface marks

Boride stones may have saw strokes on the working surface, lacquer residues, or small chips at corners and edges no larger than 1 mm.

These minor marks are eliminated during stone preparation. Additional lapping can be performed with loose silicon carbide powder or a diamond lapping plate.
