Series
Golden Star series stones are made of aluminum oxide with strictly controlled grain for stable sharpening performance.
Steel range
The series is designed for medium-hard steels and is recommended by Boride as a strong choice for high-carbon steel.
Use
Golden Star stones do not require long soaking and are available in popular grits used in Boride stone bundles.
Maintenance
Boride stones may have saw strokes on the working surface, lacquer residues, or small chips at corners and edges no larger than 1 mm.
These minor marks are eliminated during stone preparation. Additional lapping can be performed with loose silicon carbide powder or a diamond lapping plate.
Lubricants
Boride stones can be used with water, soapy water, Boride Bori-Lube, or a water solution of dipropylene glycol.
WD-40, refined olive oil, and oleic acid are options for experienced users only.
Preparation
When using water, soak the stone for 1–2 minutes. When using oil, apply 1–2 drops to the surface and spread evenly.
If the stone absorbs the honing oil, use a larger amount of oil.
