No lapping is needed — all Hapstone Premium CBN stones are ready to use out of the box.
The finer grit stones such as:

20/14 µm (800 grit)

7/5 µm (2000 grit)

3/2 µm (5000 grit)
— have a thin bonding layer that naturally wears off during the first few sharpening passes.
The coarse stones:

200/160 µm (80 grit)
-
100/80 µm (150 grit)
-
40/28 µm (400 grit)
— are pre-lapped at the factory, so they’re fully conditioned and ready to perform from the start.
